Ted L. Pennington

Funeral serviced for Ted L. Pennington were held March 10, 2003, at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds in Lusk, with Pastor Gary Walker and Rev. Juanita Gillies officiating. Interment followed at the Lusk Cemetery.

Ted Pennington died at Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas on March 5, 2003, with his wife and daughter by his side.

Ted L. Pennington was born in Lost Springs, Wyo., Dec. 13, 1934, to Roy J. Pennington and Bernice M. (Pearce) Pennington.

He was raised on the family ranch north of Lost Springs. He attended grade school in Lost Springs and went to Manville High School, where he played football and graduated in 1953.

After graduation Ted chose to stay at Lost Springs and joined his parents working the ranch and their livestock trucking company, and joined the Wyoming National Guard.

On Jan. 15, 1956, Ted married Donna Fae Wolfe in Lusk. The young couple made their home at Lost Springs on the Pennington Ranch.

Ted was a life long rancher, a good steward of the land, a respected horseman and a loved member of the community. He was an excellent welder, doing his own work on the ranch and odd jobs for his neighbors.

The greatest love of his life was family, and especially watching his three grandchildren grow up. Ted and Donna were proud supporters of the University of Wyoming Cowboy football team and held season tickets for many years.

Ted was a member of the Lusk United Church of Christ Congregational Church, Cowboy Joe Club, Charter member of the Niobrara Roping Club and the Order of Moose in Douglas.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Lost Springs; daughter Diane and her husband Jim Hall of Gillette, Wyo.; three grandchildren, Kyle, Kali and Koel Hall; and a sister, Charlene Glandt of Cheyenne, Wyo.

Preceding him in death were his son Sam, parents, a sister Leona Jean, and a brother Jim.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
