Funeral Being Held Wed. for Richard Pfister

Funeral service is being held at the Lusk Congregational Church this Wednesday afternoon for Richard Pfister (26), a Lusk youth who took his own life Saturday night in Chadron, Neb.

Officiating is The Rev. Robert Boutwell. Organist is Mrs. Gerald Bardo, and vocal soloist is Tim Johnson who is singing "The Lord's Prayer" and "Turn, Turn, Turn."

Casket bearers are Gary West, Don Whiteaker, Sam Reed, Ewart Johnson, Tom Thompson, Jack Butler, Jim Hollon, Terry Klindt, Stan Wasson and W. A. Taylor. Interment is being made in the Lusk Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Peet Mortuary.

A memorial is being established.

Richard Gordon Pfister III was born December 6, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Richard and Audrey Pfister. The family moved to Edgemont, S.D., when he was six-months old and to Lusk when he was 13-months of age. In Lusk the youth became known in his circle of friends as "Rich." Athletics occupied much of his leisure time during school years, and by the time he was a senior at Niobrara County High School he excelled in basketball. He was named to both All-District and All-State teams. He also was a member of the school football and track teams.

Rich served his military obligation between August, 1969, and February, 1971. Most of this time he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.

After his discharge from the service he returned to Lusk, and was associated with his father on the family's Niobrara ranch.

He was preceded in death by three grandparents. He is survived by his parents; 3 brothers, Robert, Ronson, and Rodney; his grandmother, Mrs. Jane Ellis; a nephew, Robbie; a niece, Kiffany.
