Al Rider Dies In California Saturday

Charles (Al) Alfred Rider, 77, of Bell Calif. died Saturday in California. Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein officiating.

Mr. Rider lived in this community for a number of years homesteading south of Lusk. He was a brother of Mrs. Mamie Root of Lusk, Mrs. Grace Mashek of Riverton and Frank Rider, Ryegate, Mont.

Last Rites Held for Charles Rider

Funeral services for Charles Alfred Rider of Los Angeles, Calif., were held Saturday afternoon from Peet Chapel. Rev. Jacob Nein officiated. Burial was made in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Carl Peterson and Mrs. Otha B. Holcomb sang "Under His Wing" and "Sweet Bye and Bye". Mrs. A.F. DeCastro was organist. Pallbearers were Menno Kaan, Henry Kaan, Roy McLainb, Floyd McLain, Floyd Simon and Clair Lee.

Charles Alfred Rider was born October 27, 1881 in Loveland, Colo., the son of Charles and Mary Rider. The family located in the Silver Springs area south of Lusk while he was still a boy.

During most of his time in this vicinity Mr. Rider was engaged in ranching and carpenter work. He was married to Barbara Mashek on December 25, 1903. They were the parents of seven children, two of which died in infancy.

In 1920 Mr. Rider established his residence in San Diego and later in Bell, Calif., at which place he died January 18 at the age of 76.

Survivors include five children: Mrs. Viola Smith, Denver, Charles F. of Gordon, Edward M.of Douglas, Ted J. of Hawaii, Dale D.Of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Frank, Ryegate,Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Root, Lusk and Mrs. Grace Mashek of Riverton. Eleven grandchildern and six great-grandchildren also survive.
