Mrs. Lucyle Rood Dies in California

Mrs. Marguerite Skillings received the news last Wednesday that her sister, Mrs. Lucyle Rood had passed away that day in Sacramento, Calif. following a long illness. Mrs. Rood will be remembered here by many, not having left Lance Creek until 1955.

Lucyle B. Floyd was born on September 8, 1908 in Burke, S. D. to Margaret and James Floyd. The family moved to Nebraska and later came to Wyoming in 1924 where Mrs. Rood finished high school at Manville. She entered the teaching profession and taught many years here in the field. She was married to Kenneth Rood in October 1927 and they were the parents of two children Byron and Gary.

Mrs. Rood who devoted her life to teaching youngsters, taught in Sacramento schools after leaving here until about four years ago when she became director of the pre-school program at the Roble School in Sacramento.

Funeral services were held in Sacramento, Monday Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m.

She is survived by her children, Byron of Powell and Gary of Sacramento; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; one sister Mrs. Marguerite Skillings of Lance Creek and a brother Orval Hoyt of Douglas.
