Matt Bast, 79, Dies Thursday

Matthew Peter Bast, 79, of Lusk, died Thursday, Jan. 22, at a Scottsbluff hospital. Funeral services were held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Peet Mortuary in Lusk. Father T McGovern officiated. Organist was Mrs. Henry Wasserburger Sr.

Casket bearers were Al Taylor, Al Davenport, Glen Crofutt, Bill Magoon, Ray Olafson and Okie Krekeler. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

He was the son of Mathius and Mary Bast, born at Glencoe, Minn., November 11, 1890. He received his education and grew into manhood in Glencoe.

In 1914 he came to Wyoming and filed on a homestead near Lance Creek. On February 15, 1925 he married Edith May Browman of Grand Rapids, Mich., in Lusk. After their marriage they made their home on the ranch at Lance Creek. They moved to Lusk in 1943 where Mr. Bast served on the Lusk Police force for several years.

His parents and a brother, John died previously.

He is survived by his widow, Edith and a sister, Rose Martin.
