Mrs. Taylor Dies Here Saturday

Elvira Pearl Taylor, 65, died in the Spencer Hospital Saturday, of a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Frank Bozart of the Open Bible Church officiating. Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. A. F. DeCastro sang, "Coming Home" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson on the organ. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Pallbearers were, Lee James, Richard Lenz, Everett Kilmer, Joe Pfister, Ralph Sides and Clark McConoughey.

Honorary pallbearers were, Gilbert Brinkerhoff, Jim Mudra, Walter Hitz, Jerry Urbanek, Jess McCormick, Clarence Kilmer, Joe McConoughey, Stanley Hoy, Roy Beard, Harry Cornell, Emil Klemke and Henry Lenz.

Mrs. Taylor, daughter of George and Hattie Smith, was born August 8, 1898 in Brown County, Neb. She received her schooling there and was a rural teacher in that county until 1920 when she married Frank Taylor. In 1922 they moved to a farm near Andrews and later to Harrison. In 1932 they moved to a farm on the Divide north of Lusk and lived there until they retired in 1956 and moved to Lusk.

Mrs. Taylor was very active in Sunday school work, a 25 year member of the Divide Tumbleweed Homemakers Club and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Ray of Lusk, Don of Aztec, N.M.; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Johnson of Lusk; two sisters, Mrs. Bernita Koerber of Scottsbluff and Alvena Taylor of Harrison; one brother, Sterling Smith of Crawford; 18 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
