Helen F. 'Nellie' Beabout

Scripture and rosary for Helen "Nellie" Beabout, Cheyenne and sister of Annie Starrett of Lusk, were recited here Monday evening at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Mass of resurrection was Tuesday morning at St. Leo's Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Bianco officiating.

Helen F. "Nellie" Beabout was born January 21, 1887, at Elm Creek, Neb., the daughter of John and Mary Fahy. She died May 14 at Mt. View Towers Health Care Center in Cheyenne.

At an early age she moved with her parents to St. Lebory, Neb., where she received her elementary education. She attended high school and The St. Paul Normal School and Business College at St. Paul, Neb., and was a teacher in that area for several years. On Feb 14, 1912, she was married to Earl Beabout. They made their home in Nebraska, Wyoming, and South Dakota before his death in 1937. She was a housekeeper for the priests at St. Rose Parish in Torrington for 23 years before moving to Cheyenne 15 years ago.

She was affiliated with St. Mary's Cathedral in Cheyenne.

Music during mass was provided by Verla Elchemendy and Charles Bruch who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden" and Rose Kremer at the organ.

Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Grant Rap, John Hughes, Warren Robertson, Walter Hughes, Edward Hughes and James Baker.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son and daughter who died in infancy; and one sister Marie Hughes of Lusk.

She is survived by two sisters, Genevieve Whitfield of Brighton, Colo., Mrs. Starrett; five nieces and nephews, John Hughes of Thermopolis, Wyo.; Helen Scheman of New Ulm, Minn.; Margretta McKenna of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Joann David of Longmont, Colo.; and Rozella King of Casper; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School, Cheyenne.
