Wm. Burge Dies Tuesday Morning

William Burge died at his home in Lusk Tuesday morning, June 4, of a heart attack from which he had suffered for a number of years. He was 76 years of age at the time of his death.

He had received treatment in the Spencer Hospital in Lusk, but he had returned to his home, where he died at 6 a.m. Funeral arrangements are not yet complete, pending the arrival of his sons and daughters.

His survivors in Lusk are his wife, sons Bryan and Clem, and daughter, Mrs. Calvin Paisley. Another son, Orville, of Scottsbluff, is already here. Mr. Burge had a total of twelve children, all living, most of whom plan to come to Lusk immediately.

Mr. Burge had spent about two years in this vicinity. He and his wife lived for a year on the Burge ranch, and moved to Lusk about a year ago. Mr. Burge spent most of his life in Philips, South Dakota.

Church Services Held Friday for William Burge

Services were held for William Franklin Burge Friday afternoon at one o'clock at the Congregational Church. He died June 4 in the morning from a heart attack, after suffering from a heart ailment for a number of years.

Many people from this area, and a large number of out-of-town relatives and friends attended the rites.

The Reverend Lawrence Juell officiated. Mrs. H. J. Templeton sang "Farther Along," "Abide With Me," and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer." Mrs. Gerald Bardo played by request on the organ six songs. "Sweet Bye and Bye," "Going Down the Valley," "Does Jesus Care," God Will Take Care of You," Beautiful Isle," and "Old Rugged Cross."

Those who acted as pall bearers were Nick Kaan, Art Whelan, Leonard Yinney, Johnny Brown, Thomas Neilson and Ed Warrick.

Interment was at the Lusk cemetery.

Relatives from out of town who were here are: Mr. and Mrs. Marion Burge, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Burge of Wenatchee, Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Mannie Burge and son Jimmy of Coclalla, Idaho; Mr. Alta Beeley and daughter Mrs. Beulah Chambers and baby of Topeka, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Gunn and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Burd, Kingsdown, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Burge and family, Scottsbluff, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Burge and Mr. Delbert Cobb of Roseburg, Oregon; Mrs. Kenneth Hong and daughter of Hernick, Iowa; Mrs. M. T. Conn of Sutherlin, Oregon.

BURGE OBITUARY
William Franklin Burge was born December 1st, 1869 in Fremont County, Iowa, son of Evelyn Porter and William Burge. There were four brothers and one sister, all of whom preceded him in death. He died at his home in Lusk, Wyoming, June 4, 1946 at six o'clock in the morning.

At the age of fourteen he, with his parents, moved from Iowa to Brown County, Nebraska. He grew to manhood there.

In the year 1892 he was married to Mary L. Pratt. The ceremony took place at Ainsworth, Nebr. To them were born twelve children, all of whom are still alive.

He engaged in farming in Nebraska where the family made their home until 1928. They then moved to South Dakota where they resided until 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Burge then moved to Lusk, Wyoming, where they would be near the homes of their children. In the year 1942 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Philip.

He is survived by his wife, his twelve children: Manuel of Cocalalla, Idaho; Marion of Wenatchee, Washington; Mrs. Alta Seeley of Topeka, Kansas; Byron of Lusk, Wyoming, Clem of Lusk, Wyoming; Mrs. Goldie Conn, Sutherlin, Oregon; Mrs. Edna Hong, Hornick, Iowa; Orville, Scottsbluff, Nebr.; William R., Roseburg, Oregon; Mrs. Calvin Paisley, Lusk, Wyoming; Mrs. Ellen Gunn, Kindsdown, Kansas; and thirty-two grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
