Mrs. Verna Baughn Dies Sat. Morning

Mrs. Verna Baughn, wife of Sidney Baughn of Manville, died Saturday morning, January 12.

She was born at Mills, Nebr., Nov. 29, 1906 and came to Wyoming with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Stevens in 1915. The family located in Jireh where Mr. Stevens engaged in the garage business. After his death in 1919 Mrs. Stevens moved with her family to a homestead 10 miles south of Jireh. Verna attended school in both Manville and Jireh.

In 1925 she was married to Sidney Baughn, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Baughn of Manville. They are the parents of one daughter, Lulu, who has been engaged for the past three years as a welder in the ship yards at Portland, Ore.

Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Baughn, when they were first married, resided on the Stevens ranch. Then in 1929 they homesteaded on Little Lightening Creek, later moving to Shawnee and then to Manville.

She is survived by her husband, her daughter, Lulu, her mother, Mrs. Stevens, one brother, Clarence Stevens of Mills, Nebr., and a sister, Mrs. Marvel Fronapel of Torrington. Mrs. Jennie Baughn of Manville is her mother-in-law. all the relatives were present for the funeral services which were held from the Methodist Church in Manville on Wednesday afternoon.

Rev. Lawrence P. Juell of Lusk officiated and music was furnished by Mrs. L. C. Stoddard, Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Fullerton and Ross Howard with Mrs. Emma Richardson as accompanist.

The casket bearers were Marion Rasmussen, Cecil Simms, Jesse York, Freeman Nason, Clarence Nason, and Elvin Alexander. Burial was made in the Manville Cemetery.

Note: The maiden name used here is based on the father and mother, listed in the Jireh Cemetery as George and Flora Stephen.
