John Henry Fahy
John Henry Fahy was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 15, 1859, the son of Patrick and Ann Fahy. This family moved westward and located on a farm near Oregon, Wisconsin while John was a small boy. At this place he grew to manhood and was united in marriage to Mary L. Foy in January 1883, 69 years ago last January.

In 1885 this Fahy family moved to the west and located in east central Nebraska where they resided until in 1914, when, with the characteristic pioneer spirit, the family came to the Flattop community and filed on a homestead some twenty miles southwest of Lusk. This vicinity, Denver, Colo., and Chadron, Nebr., was principally the family home until about eleven years ago when they took up residence in Torrington, Wyo., which town is the home of their daughter, Mrs. R. H. Whitfield.

Only a few days before his death, Mr. and Mrs. Fahy were visiting at the home of another daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Hughes near Flattop. On Sunday evening, July 20th, Mr. Fahy suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage from which he passed away the following morning, July 21st, at the age of 93 years, two months, and six days.

He is survived by his widow Mary L. Fahy and four daughters, Mrs. E. S. Starrett and Mrs. Kenneth Hughes, of Flattop, Mrs. E. W. Beabout and Mrs. R.H. Whitfield both of Torrington. Also surviving are six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Two grandchildren, John William and Mary Louise Beabout preceded him in death.

Mr. Fahy enjoyed excellent health and on the day he was stricken ill he had walked through the fields of the Hughes farm. Although the "scythe of time" had spared this fine gentleman for this unusually long life, his passing leaves a void in the lives of his survivors who have the sympathy of the host of friends who had enjoyed the acquaintance of "Johnny" Fahy.
