Lenard "Bud" H. Wilkison

Lenard H. (Bud) Wilkison, 82, of Lusk, passed away at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper Friday, June 28, 2013. Memorial services were held Wed., July 3, 2013 at First Baptist Church, with Pier Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Bud was the son of Floyd and Anna (Moore) Wilkison, born Dec. 30, 1930 at Lance Creek, Wyo. at his uncle Lee Moore's house. Lee was sent for the doctor, but Bud arrived before the doctor, and was actually delivered by his dad on Dad's birthday. Bud received his education in the Lance Creek School.

He served his country for 2 years during the Korean War as a member of the Military Police on Kojido Island, and was honorably discharged in 1953. On May 3, 1955, he married Loretta M. Atchison in Mitchell, Neb.

Bud worked many places during his working years, including Walt Kant at Lance Creek. They moved to Lusk in 1960 where Bud worked for Sioux Services and for Wasson Chevrolet as a mechanic and wrecker driver. He also worked for Harry Brown at Ranchers Feed and Ranchway Feed and Lumber; and various other locations.

Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being with family. In his later years with his feet and legs making it painful to be active, he started crocheting his afghans, gifting them to many family members and friends.

Bud accepted Christ as his Savior in 1989, and was an active member of First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth, daughter Julie, three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Loretta; son Delmar and wife Deb of Douglas, Wyo.; daughter Lenore Hankins of Casper, Wyo., six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris and Connie; one brother, Ronnie; and many other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Lusk or the Niobrara Senior Center.
