Michael "Mike" J. Bayne
A Memorial service for Michael J. "Mike" Bayne, 67, of Scottsbluff, was Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with pastor Jeremy Skaggs officiating. Inurnment followed at Fairview Cemetery. In keeping with his wishes, his remains were cremated.
Mike died Saturday, December 12, 2015, at his home. Mike was born April 15, 1948, in Hot Springs, South Dakota, to Cecil and Vurel (Cummings) Bayne.
He grew up and attended schools in Harrison, Nebraska, and graduated Sioux County High School with the class of 1966. On September 8, 1979, he married Janine K. Flack in Scottsbluff. Mike held many positions in his life, mostly in transportation, working over the years at Ballentine Trucking, Associated Grocers of Nebraska, and All Freight in Denver. For the past few years, he worked for Peterson Drug, delivering medications to area nursing homes and care facilities, a job that he truly enjoyed, because it allowed him to see people and ride in the car.
Mike had a passion for old cars, but none caught his eye more than a 40 Ford. He loved going for cruises, he often would say, "It's good, clean, cheap entertainment." He loved taking his family along and showing them the many sights of Nebraska, especially western Nebraska. He was head over heels for his two grandchildren and their many activities.
He was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Scottsbluff.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jan of Scottsbluff, his son, Jim (Franchesca) Bayne of Peña Blanca, NM; and his grandchildren, Madison and Declan Bayne of Peña Blanca; his brothers, Chan (Linda) Bayne of Wheatland, WY, and Tom Bayne of Idaho; and his sister, Lona (Gary) Thayer of Harrison.
His parents, a brother, Chad and a sister, Sammie Scott preceded him in death.
