Geo. Martin Dies Tues.

George Henry Martin, 51, rancher of the Kirtley vicinity for many years and associated with the Lusk Sales Pavilion, died Tuesday evening at 11:45 as the result of a ruptured appendix.

He had been taken to the Spencer Hospital a week ago Monday and last Sunday it seemed his condition was improved. However complications resulted causing his death.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2:30 from the Peet Mortuary. Interment will be at the Lusk Cemetery.

Complete details of his life were not available at press time. Mr. Martin was born in Virginia. Thirty two years ago he came to the Lusk vicinity and has gained a wide reputation as a rancher and stockman.

Surviving besides his wife are six children, three sons and three daughters. They are: Virgil, rancher north of Harrison; Andy, rancher of the Kirtley vicinity; Mrs. Opal Plumb of Lusk, and Patrick, Pearl and Ila at home.

Three brothers and three sisters are also living: Mrs. J.P. Lorenzen, Lusk; Walt Martin, Lusk; Mrs. May Manning, Casper; Mrs. Florence Burke, Bridgeport, Nebraska; Joe Martin, Harrison; and Sam Martin, John Day, Ore.

Large Crowd Attends Funeral Of Geo. Martin

One of the largest crowds to attend a funeral here paid final tribute to George Henry Martin, last Thursday at services held from the Peet Mortuary.

Mr. Martin had died July 21 as the result of a ruptured appendix at the age of 51. Services were conducted by the Rev. Otto M. Fabre of the Harrison Methodist Church. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lloyd Smith, Albion Lind, Charles Lund, George Hammond, Fred Bruegger, and D. A. Shoopman. Assisting with the music were Mrs. C. E. Marvin, Miss Shirley Brown, Ford Kuns and O.P. Harnagel, Mrs. J. P. Watson, accompanying.

George Martin was born in Floyd County, Virginia on February 9, 1891, the son of William and Amelia Martin. When he was three the family moved to about 16 miles northeast of Harrison, Nebr. where he lived at the family home until 1911.

That year he married Florence Sowers and they established their home on a ranch northeast of Lusk and which is still the family home. Mr. Martin has been engaged in the livestock business for many years and for the past year had been one of the partners in the Lusk Sales Pavilion.

Surviving besides his wife are the six children; Virgil of Harrison; Andy, Patrick, Mrs. Edward Plumb, Ila and Pearl of Lusk.

Four brothers and three sisters also survive: Florence Burke of Bridgeport, Nebr.; Mrs. Mae Manning, Casper; Mrs. Jerd Lorenzen, Lusk; Joe Martin, Harrison; Sam Martin, Winlock, Washington; and Walter Martin, Lusk.
