Edna E. Adams

Edna Eunice Barnes Adams was born at Harrison, Nebr. Aug. 7, 1907 and died September 14, 1983 at her home near Van Tassell at the age of 76 years, one month and seven days. She was the second of seven children born to Paul and Sarah Barnes.

Edna received her elementary education in the log school near the Barnes ranch north of Harrison. Upon graduating from Sioux County High School with the class of 1926, she attended one year at Nebraska Weslyn University and one year and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She then returned to Sioux County where she taught the Panhandle school.

On June 23rd, 1929, she was married with Lawrence W. Adams of the panhandle community. She continued to teach in her home giving her brother-in-law Ralph Adams two years of High School.

The five children born to Edna and Lawrence were Joy Ruth, Eunice Mae, Lloyd LeRoy, Janice Edith and Joseph Mark.

Edna was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, a 4-H leader for many years, a charter member of the Help One Another Club and the Sioux County Historical Society. She also gave many hours of volunteer time to the Sunshine Senior Citizens Center in Harrison.

Preceding her death were her Father, twin brother, who died in infancy, one daughter, Janice, and one granddaughter.

She is survived by her mother, Sarah Barnes of Ponderosa Villa, Crawford, Nebr., husband Lawrence; two daughters, Joy Buckley of Harrison and Eunice Miller of Van Tassell and; two sons, Lloyd Adams of Van Tassell and Joseph Adams of Chadron, Nebr.; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Wagnon of Sacramento, Calif. And Dorothy Hutchinson of Oak, Nebr., Clinton of Gering, Nebr. And Fay Kelseyville, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Historical Society and Ambulance Fund in Lusk and in Harrison.

50th ANNIVERSARY OBSERVED HERE

About 200 friends and relatives gathered at the V.F. W. hall Saturday afternoon to help Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Adams celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

The children of the couple, Joyce (Mrs. Ivol) Buckley, Eunice (Mrs. Dale) Miller, Lloyd Adams, and Joe Adams hosted the event.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Nelson of Lake Andes, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Don Kellog of Spearfish, S.D., Mike Karnish of Omaha, Angela, Audrey and Arlene Adams of Casper and the children of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Adams of Chadron.
