Concluding rites were held for the late Mrs. Earl Hopkins, of Manville, at two o'clock from the chapel of the Peet Funeral home with Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Congregational Church officiating. A mixed trio composed of Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Fullerton and Mrs. Floyd Alexander sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Silent Night" with Mrs. Ab DeCastro accompanying on the organ.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery with Earl Quick, Dick Ladwig, Zeb Ward, Marion Rasmussen, Alvin Alexander and Herman Leeling bearing the remains to their final resting place.

Josephine Marie Bruner was born July 5, 1899 in Omaha, Nebr., a daughter of John J. and Mary S. Bruner and departed from this life on Wednesday, December 16th, 1954 at Lusk, Wyoming. She had attained the age of 55 years, five months and ten days.

Her early life was spent in and around eastern Nebraska. On May 6th, 1920, she united in marriage to Earl Hopkins at O'Neill, Nebr. To this union were born seven children, all of whom survive.

Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins made their home at O'Neill, Nebraska until 1927, when they came to Wyoming and made their home on a ranch near Manville. In recent years they have resided in Manville. Mrs. Hopkins was a devoted wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild. Survivors include her husband, Earl, of Manville, three sons, Edwin J. Hopkins and John E. Hopkins, of Lusk, Wyo., and William E. Hopkins of Manville, Wyo., four daughters Mrs. Glen Jordan, Hemingford, Nebr., Mrs. Arthur Snell, Garland, Texas, Mrs. Billy Anderson, Lusk, Wyo. and Miss Lois Jean Hopkins of the family home in Manville, Wyo., eleven grandchildren; two brothers, John Bruner and Hudson Bruner, both of Grand Island, Nebr.; five sisters Mrs. Virgil Rockford, Rose, Nebr., Mrs. Cecil Sovereign, Grand Island, Nebr., Mrs. Clarence Boetcher, Columbus, Nebr., Mrs. Ira Lerman, Kola, Nebr., and Mrs. Jerry Allen, Grand Island, Nebr.

Note: Although this obituary states the date of death as December 16, the Lusk Cemetery records recorded the date as December 15, which was a Wednesday. The following article also uses December 15, which is the date that was used in our records.

Mrs. Earl Hopkins Dies of Heart Attack Dec. 15

Mrs. Earl Hopkins, 55, a longtime resident of Manville and vicinity, died of a heart attack at 11:50 p.m. December 15 at the Spencer Hospital. She was ill only a few hours.

Funeral services were held December 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein officiating. Mrs. Lloyd Alexander and Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Fullerton sang "Silent Night" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Mrs. AA. F. DeCastro, organist.

Pallbearers were: Dale Quick, Richard Ladwig, Zeb Ward, Marion Rasmussen, Alvin Alexander and Herman Leeling. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery with the Peet Mortuary in charge.

Mrs. Josephine Marie Hopkins was born July 5, 1899 in Omaha, the daughter of John J. and Mary Saymes Bruner. She married Earl Hopkins at O'Neill, Nebr., May 6, 1920. The couple had seven children.

The family made their home in O'Neill until 1927 when they moved to a ranch near Manville. Later they moved into Manville.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Hopkins of Manville; three sons; Edwin J. and John E. of Lusk and William E. of Manville; four daughters; Mrs. Glen Jordan of Hemingford, Neb.; Mrs. Arthur Snell of Garland, Tex.; Mrs. Billy Anderson of Lusk and Miss Lois Jean Hopkins at home; and eleven grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: John Bruner and Hudson Bruner, both of Grand Island, Neb.; five sisters: Mrs. Virgil Rockford of Rose, Neb.; Mrs. Clarence Boetcher of Columbus, Neb.; Mrs. Ira Lerman of Lola, Neb., and Mrs. Jerry Allen and Mrs. Cecil Sovereign, both of Grand Island.
