Services for Elizabeth M. "Bess" Lee, 97, were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday September 12, at the United Methodist Church with Reverend David Finley officiating, with Fraternal rites by Chapter #22, Order of Eastern Star. Burial was in Lusk, Wyoming Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts to the Charles V. and Elizabeth M. Lee Scholarship Fund at Eastern Wyoming College would be appreciated. Mrs. Lee died at Community Hospital on September 8, 1997, after a short illness.

Bess was born July 26, 1900, the daughter of Arthur and Docia (McCullough) Lamb, at Walnut Creek, Iowa. She grew up and went to school in Shenandoah, Iowa. In 1918 she moved to a homestead near Lance Creek, Wyoming, with an aunt, uncle and cousin. They returned to Shenandoah the next year and she worked for Henry Fields Seed Company for three years. The family moved to Manville, Wyoming, in 1921 and she graduated from high school there in 1922.

On May 13, 1922, Bess and Charles V. Lee were married in Lusk, Wyoming and over the years they lived in Lance Creek and LaVoy, Wyoming and Fort Collins, Colorado until their return to Lance Creek. They retired in Torrington in 1966. Mr. Lee preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and her fraternal activities included: Black Gold Lodge #23 of the Rebekah's in Lance Creek; Order of Eastern Star Chapter #22 in Torrington, where she was a 52 year member; Manville Order of Eastern Star Past Worthy Matron; and Past Representative of Utah.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Charles V. and Mary L. Lee of Fort Collins, George A. and Sheila Lee of Livermore, Colorado and Vernon E. and Pat Lee of Casper, Wyoming.; daughters Margaret K. Lee of Torrington and JoAnn Rasmussen of Douglas, Wyoming; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.

Viewing hours at the Colyer Funeral Home were Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. and at the service.
