John Lamb Dies at Boulder, Colo.

John J. Lamb, of Boulder, Colo., and former well-known resident of this county, died Monday at 2:00 p.m. at his home from a heart attack. Masonic services will be held this Thursday in boulder.

He was the uncle of Leonard Ong, Mrs. Charles Lee, Sr., and Vernon Lamb, all of Lance Creek. They and Charles Lee, Sr., Georgie Lee, Vernon Lee and Miss Margaret Lee left Wednesday morning for Boulder.

Funeral Services For John J. Lamb Held Last Thurs.

A heart attack suffered January 28 followed by another January 30 resulted in the death of John J. Lamb, at his home in Boulder, Colorado. Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Geddes-Hibbard Mortuary in Boulder with the Rev. Marvin H. Adams of the First Methodist Church of Boulder officiating.

John J. Lamb was born in Murray, Iowa Jan. 17, 1875, to William and Elizabeth Lamb, the youngest of five children born to that family. He received his education in Shenandoah, Iowa. After the death of his father he and his mother engaged in farming near Murray, Iowa and in Grainfield, Kansas. In 1916, he moved to Lance Creek to homestead, and there established one of the finest ranches in that country. It was there that he met Elizabeth Donner who had taken up a homestead in the Lance Creek community also. They were married at Lusk February 28, 1918. In 1937 Mr. and Mrs. Lamb retired and moved to Boulder, Colo. where Mrs. Lamb died August 1, 1951.

Mr. Lamb was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers, Arthur and Alvin Lamb and two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Ong and Mrs. Maude DeRousse.

He attended the Methodist Church of Boulder and was a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge 14 of Boulder, Consistory No. 1 Denver, Mariposa Chapter No. 25 Order of Eastern Star of Manville, the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and the Boulder Lodge No. 566 BPO Elks and at one time was a member of the Lions Club of Boulder. Since the death of his wife he has traveled extensively having made trips to Bermuda and Nassau and last year spent some time in Mexico.

At the funeral services Robert Hunter and Don Mosher accompanied Mrs. Howard Ashton at the organ sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Harlon B. Person, W. L. Hauptli, C.M. Hill, C. E. Brodie, G. W. Pollard, and Harl G. Douglass. Interment was beside his wife in Green Mountain Cemetery. Relatives from a distance attending the service were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lamb, Leonard Ong, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lee, of Lance Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Louis DeRousse, Mr. and Mrs. Jess DeRousse, of Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Ruth Herrmann, of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Crystal Carder of Ft. Collins, Colo., all nieces and nephews of the deceased. Cloid Lamb, of Winterset, Iowa, Fred Lamb of DesMoines, Iowa,, Mrs. Charles Lamb, Afton, Iowa, Mrs. Maxine Younkins, of Marshalltown, Iowa, all cousins. Great nieces and nephews attending the funeral were George, Vernon, and Margaret Lee of Lance Creek, Frank Herrmann of San Jose, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rasmussen of Douglas, Wyoming.

Mr. Lamb with his nephew Leonard Ong carried on extensive ranching business in the Lance Creek area and had many business connections in and around Lusk.
