Joy Shade dies in Maine

Mrs. Joy Shade, 56, daughter of Mrs. Mary Scace, died in Bath, Maine, August 16 with a memorial service held in Pippsburg, Maine, where she had taught school for 8 years.

Joy Scace was born in Lusk January 28, 1918, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scace. She was reared here graduating from Lusk High School. She graduated from Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley and then joined the Women's Army Corps during World War II.

Mrs. Shade was attached to the Eisenhower headquarters traveling with the general in England and Germany. Following the war she returned to Chicago where she worked for a radio station before her marriage to Ed Shade. She taught school several places in Maine following her marriage.

Survivors include her husband and two daughters Margaret and Susan of Bath; her mother, Mrs. Mary Scace who is making her home with another daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Beach in Laramie; one sister, Mrs. Beach and one brother Ted Scace of Houston, Tex.
