Charles Scace Dies Here Monday

Charles Edward Scace, 71, died at his home at 6:30 Monday evening after a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in the Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein officiating. Rex Yocum will sing a solo accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist.

Pallbearers will be: A. B. Mills, Earl Criss, Tony Larsen, Roy McLain, Hans Gautschi and Ray Olafson. Interment will be in the Lusk cemetery with the Peet Mortuary in charge.

Charles Edward Scace was born in Chicago, June 6, 1883, the son of Stephen Birch and Amelia G. Sincock Scace. He was a retired rancher, having lived in Niobrara County and Lusk for 46 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Mahood Scace; three children: Mrs. C. E. Shade of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Kenneth Beach of Laramie and Charles Scace of Sidney, Neb.; and seven grandchildren.

Charles E. Scace Obituary Published

Charles Edward Scace was born June 6, 1883 at Chicago, the son of Stephen Birch and Amelia Sincox Scace. He died Jan. 31 at his home in Lusk, aged 71 years.

His family moved to a farm near Wayne, Neb., in 1889 and he attended the Wayne schools. In 1909 he and his father homesteaded six miles south of Lusk and established their ranch. The family followed the next year.

In 1916 he married Miss Mary Mahood of Columbus, Neb., and they lived on the ranch until late in the 1920's. At that time they moved to Lusk.

For many years Mr. Scace was employed in the H. C. Snyder Mercantile store and afterwords was caretaker at the Lusk High School. He served as caretaker of the new post office building from the time of its opening until he resigned on account of his failing health.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary M. Scace; two daughters: Mrs. C. E. Shade of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. R. K. Beach of Laramie; one son, C. E. Scace, Jr. of Sidney, Neb.; seven grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. James Fegley of Lander and Mrs. Henry Petz.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Fegley, Lander; Mrs. C. E. Shade, Pittsburgh, Mrs. and Mrs. R. K. Beach, Laramie,; Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Scace, Jr., Sidney, aand Mrs. E. V. Sucha and Miss Jean Mahood, both of Columbus, Neb.
