Friday, December 23 the film, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” will be shown at 1 p.m. Mr. Popper is a successful businessman who’s clueless when it comes to the really important things in life… until he gets an unexpected present… six ‘adorable’ penguins. Bring your own drink, the library provides the popcorn! The film is rated PG and 94 minutes.“Kung Fu Panda 2” will be shown on Friday, December 30.

The library will be closed on Monday, December 26, 2011 for the Christmas holiday and on Monday, January 2, 2012 for New Year’s. On behalf of the library staff and the members of the support boards we wish you a safe and happy holiday!

A new Christmas novel is “An Angel For Christmas” by Heather Graham. Christmas has never brought out the best in the MacDougel family. Still, year after year, they gather in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This year two strangers arrive on the mountain – one can’t be trusted and the other is about to bring Christmas to their hearts. Stop in and check out the holiday books, movies and music.

“Hotel Vendome” by Danielle Steel is also now available as is “Paper Angels” by Jimmy Wayne, “A Woman Without Lies” by Elizabeth Lowell, “Devil’s Gate” by Clive Cussler, “Bring Me Home For Christmas” by Robyn Carr, “Micro” by Michael Crichton and “Making Spirits Bright” by Fern Michaels. New titles for the young adult are “The Sun of Neptune” by Rick Riordan and “The Secret to Lying” by Todd Mitchell.

New on the non-fiction shelves are “Prime Time” by Jane Fonda, “Horses Never Lie About Love : a true story” by Jane Harris, “The Time of Our Lives” by Tom Brokaw and “Healing the Gerson Way: Defeating Cancer and Other Chronic Diseases” by Charlotte Gerson.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new books: “Out at Second” by Stephanie Peters, “The Clue in the Recycling Bin” by Gertrude Chandler Warner and “Feel the Force” by Benjamin Harper. Also available are: “The Adventures of Han Solo” by Lindsey Kent and “Pinkalicious: School Rules” by Victoria Kann.
