The second of four films in the Survival series will be shown on Monday, February 27 at 6 p.m. Friends are intent on seeing the Cahulawassee River before it’s turned into one huge lake in the 1972 film, “Deliverance.” Outdoor fanatic, Lewis Medlock takes his friends on a river-rafting trip they’ll never forget into the dangerous American back-country. A light meal will be available and discussion will be facilitated by Deane Tucker. The film is 110 minutes. For more information contact the library.

A new international thriller is “Cell 8” by Anders Roslund. John Meyer Frey died of heart disease in an Ohio prison while awaiting execution for the murder of his girlfriend. Six years later a singer named John Schwarz viciously attacks a man, leaving him in a coma. After Schwarz is arrested, it is discovered that he has been living in Sweden under a false identity. The investigation that is launched stretches from Sweden to the U.S. and reveals a shocking connection between the Frey and Schwarz cases.

“Earth in 100 Groundbreaking Discoveries” by Douglas Palmer as well as “On Sacred Ground: a Religious and Spiritual History of Wyoming” by Warren Murphy and “Every Day a Friday: How To Be Happier 7 Days a Week” by Joel Osteen are on the new non-fiction shelf.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books: “Lexi the Firefly Fairy” by Daisy Meadows, “Ivy & Bean: Bound to Be Bad” by Annie Borrows and “Frost Wolf” by Kathryn Lasky. Some new easy titles are “Animals Every Where” by Reverend W. Awdry, “Henry’s Heart: a Boy, His Heart, and a New Friend” by Charise Mericle Harper and “Mind Your Manners” by Samantha Brooke.
