The library will be closed on Friday, July 3 for Independence Day. Regular hours resume on Monday, July 6. All summer reading goals will need to be turned in by Thursday, July 2.

Magician Byron Grey will be performing “The Magic Bookcase” at the library on Tuesday, July 7 at 1 p.m. Byron combines the ancient art of storytelling, magic, and audience participation for an astonishing family-friendly magic show.

The Read & Feed book discussion of S. E. Hinton’s “The Outsiders” will be on Monday, July 6 at noon.

The library is offering something new on Wednesday, July 15 with Arrayscape Gaming. Two gaming sessions will be held for children and adults. The library has a very limited number of devices available, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop, tablet or phone. The first session will be held from 10:30 a.m. – Noon with Minecraft “Unearth the Giants: Dino Safari.” In this hands-on archaeology experience gamers will master excavation techniques to recover lost dinosaur bones, apply critical thinking to reconstruct skeletal structures, and learn the art of curation by designing museum exhibits.  The Roblox experience, “Rorvik” will be held from 1-2:30 p.m.where gamers can mine ores across various islands and collect trinkets. Attendees will constantly advance to mine more valuable materials, defeat “boss ores” with friends, complete quests and climb the leaderboards! It’s a game about progression, collecting, and exploring a world full of fantastical creatures and precious loot. Call the library for more information!

“The Things We Never Say” is the title of Elizabeth Strout’s latest novel. Artie Dam is a high school history teacher and weekend sailor. His growing sense of isolation reverses when a stranger saves him from drowning. Despite the two men’s political differences, their connection remains a lifeline when secrets are revealed – a ray of hope in divided time. “The Things We Never Say” is also available in Libby.

Other new fiction books are “A Woman’s Place” by Danielle Steel, “Clawed and Dangerous” by Rita Mae Brown, “Certainty” by John Twelve Hawks, “Death by Chocolate Ladyfingers” by Sarah Graves, “The Bookstore Diaries” by Susan Mallery, “26 Beauties” by James Patterson, “Nearly a Bride” by Sabrina Jeffries, and “King of Gluttony” by Ana Huang. Among new young adult books is the classic book, “True to the Old Flag: a Tale of the American War of Independence” by G. A. Henty.

“True Crime: a Memoir” by Patricia Cornwell and “Atlas of Botany” edited by Annie Moss are now available on the new non-fiction shelf.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “Tested” by Anna Monders and “Mystery in the Grand Canyon” by Dusti Bowling. Newer easy books are “Good Night, Escargot!” by Dashka Slater, “Stick Dog Meets Poo-Poo” by Tom Watson, “The Dark is For” by Jane Kohuth, “How (Not) to Make a Jelly Sandwich” by Ross Burach, and “Bad Banana” by Michael Rex.

“Fizzy Lights” is the theme for Storyhour on July 7, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. “Stop & Go” is the theme for Toddler Time on Wednesday, July 8 from 10:30-11 a.m. Toddler Time is held through August 12.
