Ventriloquist Meghan Casey returns with a fun puppet show on Tuesday, July 21 at 1 p.m. Meghan and Aidan have REALLY done it this time… apparently a normal jungle hike was just too boring. After stumbling across an abandoned prehistoric-looking science lab, Aidan finds a pencil labeled “DO NOT USE.” So naturally, he uses it. “Sketchasaurus Rex” will no doubt have you in stitches – fun for the whole family!

The August Read & Feed book is “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood. This book is not only a radical and brilliant departure for Margaret Atwood, it is a novel of such power that the reader will be unable to forget its images and its forecast. Stop by to pick up a copy, the book is scheduled for discussion on Monday, August 10 at noon.

Melinda Leigh’s latest book is “You Can Tell Me.” On the third anniversary of true crime writer Olivia Cruz’s horrific kidnapping, she is supposed to walk her podcaster friend, Zoe, through the crime scene. Zoe doesn’t show. When Zoe doesn’t make it home that night, her husband reports her missing, but the police suspect that Zoe’s left her husband and aren’t looking for her. Olivia thinks otherwise and starts her own investigation, but by doing that – is she walking into a deadly trap?

Lee, “Five-Star Summer” by Sarah Morgan, “The Daisy Chain Flower Shop” by Laurie Gilmore, “The Last Dance” by Mark Billingham, “Smuggler’s Cove” by Fern Michaels and “The Final Target” by Nora Roberts. “The Boy Knight: a Tale of the Crusades” by G. A. Henty is now available in the young adult section.

Among the newer non-fiction books is “The Land and It’s People” by David Sedaris.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books: “A Copycat Conundrum” by Lisa Yee, “Minotaur Boy” by Shane Hegarty and “The Railroad Kitten” by Holly Webb. Newer picture books and easy readers include “Bluey: BBQ” by Penguin Young Readers, “102” by Matthew Cordell, “Tiny T. Rex Tries Soccer” by Jonathan Stutzman, “See You Later…” by April Suddendorf and “Orris and Timble: Star Stories” by Kate DiCamillo.

“Warm Sand” is the theme for Storyhour on July 21, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. Toddler Time will focus on “What’s Bigger” on Wednesday, July 22 – held from 10:30-11 a.m.
