Harold "Dub" Hitshew

Harold "Dub" Hitshew, age 71, passed away from a heart attach at 9:40 p.m., June 13, 1989 at the Hood County General Hospital in Granburry, Texas.

Harold, the oldest son of Oliver and Mary Minerva Hatten Hitshew, was born at the ranch home six miles north of Keeline, Wyoming on August 27, 1917. He grew up in the area and attended grade school at the country Chalk Butte School and high school at Manville, Wyoming.

Harold was married to Bernice A. Martin of Harrison, Nebraska on August 15, 1939 at Chadron, Nebraska. Ten children were born to this union. They were later divorced.

On September 5, 1973 he married Rose Marie Lester at Anahuac, Texas. They resided at Channelview, Texas, a suburb of Houston, for some time and later moved to Granburry, Texas.

Harold "Dub" as he was better known, was a "Jack-of-all-trades" working at various jobs, some of which were: ranch hand, oilfield roustabout, oil well driller, water well driller, dam builder, highway construction, wood-cutting service, landscaping, restaurant owner, etc.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a son and a daughter, and 2 grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of the family home; four sons, Dwane Hitshew of Granburry, Texas; Kenneth Hitshew of Butte, Montana; Dean Hitshew of Newcastle, Wyoming and David Hitshew of Newcastle, Wyoming; four daughters, Karen Abbott of Worland, Wyoming; Dianne Collins of Rapid City, South Dakota; and twins, Debra Ellis of Butte, Montana and Donna Hitshew of Worland, Wyoming; a sister, Wilma Wright of Lost Springs, Wyoming and a brother, William Hitshew of Riverton, Wyoming; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Body was cremated. Service to be at a later date at the Dell View Cemetery, Manville, Wyoming.
