Greg Kuhn Dies Friday; Services Are Held Monday

Funeral Mass was said for Gregory John Kuhn, 49, at the new St. Leo's Catholic Church by Father O'Connor at 10:00 a.m., Monday. He died of cancer at his trailer home in Lusk early Friday morning. Rosary services were held at the Peet Chapel Sunday evening at eight o'clock. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery, with the arrangements by the Peet Chapel.

Casket bearers were: Henry Hytrek, W. W. Culver, Claude Redding, Jerry Wasserburger, Bill Magoon and Fred Sullivan.

He was born to Joe and Gertrude (Olds) Kuhn, January 17, 1918 on the Kuhn homestead five miles south of Jireh. He moved with his folks to Lusk in June 1925, this being his home the greater share of his life.

Following his graduation from Lusk High School he worked as a mechanic with his father and brothers, when they had trucks, hauling grain, wool and cattle. He later bid on the Lance Creek mail route and was carrier on that until World War II. When all the boys were enlisting for the service he sold his route and equipment and went for induction. Due to a heart murmur and a lung condition he was rejected. This was one of his greatest disappointments.

He started working with Joe Kuhn Sons as partsman and salesman until 1949 when his mother became ill. The business was sold and he worked for Western Repair until 1965, as welder and machine salesman.

He was married to Gladys Olafson, September 2, 1960 at Lusk.

Always being fond of hunting and fishing, he went as a big game guide to the K-Z Ranch for a year and then transferred to the Shoshoni Lodge near Yellowstone Park. He operated a ski lift and guide until the high altitude was too much for his heart. He then moved to Cody, Wyo., and was working for the True Drilling Co., until he became ill in February of this year. He entered the Casper Hospital where they found he had cancer of the lungs. After a series of treatments, he wanted to come to Lusk. His brother Frank of the Kuhn Aircraft and Equipment flew to Casper and brought him to Lusk where he entered the hospital here. He later moved to his trailer home where he was at the time of his death.

His mother and brother Clark died previously.

Survivors include his widow, Gladys, Lusk; one son, Ronald Greg, and grandson, Ronald of Ely, Minn.; his father, Joe Kuhn, step-mother, Frances, Lusk; two sisters, Helena Gibson, Phoenix and Gertrude Brooks, Torrington; and a brother Frank of Lusk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
