Elma McLean
Elma McLean, 80, died Monday, September 17, 2001, at the Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming.
She was born April 11, 1921, to Hill and Velma Boyles in Kirtley where she and her younger sister grew up on the family ranch. She graduated from the Niobrara County High School in 1939. In 1952 Elma married Hugh McLean in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Elma and Hugh lived in Lance Creek where they raised their family while Elma worked as a school cook and managed a cafe. Later the couple took up ranching and became involved in the "cattle business." In 1977 Elma and Hugh moved to Lusk where they maintained the Lady Bird Rest area for several years. Following her husband's death, Elma moved to Laramie to be near her family. Elma enjoyed sewing, knitting and visiting with family and friends. Her cooking was second to none and enjoyed by all.
Survivors include sons Gurney McLean of Glenrock and Clair McLean of Torrington, daughter, Reda Butler of Sheridan, nieces LeaAnn Bonner of Laramie and Jan Robertson of Van Tassell. Elma has ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as five great nephews, three great nieces, and several great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and nephew.
