Bob D. Phipps
Memorial services for Bob D. Phipps, 59, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 1991, at the Memorial Methodist Church in Harrison, Neb., with Rev. Joe Booker officiating. Cremation has taken place.
Phipps died Sunday evening at his home northwest of Harrison. He was born Sept. 29, 1931, in Harrison, Neb., the son of Julian and Juanita Phipps. He attended grade school in Lance Creek and graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison in 1949. He enlisted in the Navy in 1951. He grew to manhood in Sioux County, Neb.
He married Marianne Burdette in May 1954. To this union two sons and one daughter was born. He was discharged from the Navy in 1955, and returned to the family ranch where he lived until the time of his death.
In March 1989 he married Shirley Holcomb in Harrison.
He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison and next to his family and ranching, he had a great love for flying.
He was preceded in death by his father Julian, a brother Rodney and a nephew Bruce.
Survivors include his mother Juanita of Lusk; his wife Shirley of the family ranch; son and daughter-in-law Rocky and Judy of Lusk, son Tony and Cheryl of Van Tassell, daughter Brenda and Rick Free of Lusk; his ex-wife Marianne; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; four step-children, Alan and Larry Holcomb, Sharon Robbins, Lisa Lemmon; and aunt and uncle Bill and Mary Fischer of Hot Springs, S.D.
For those who wish, memorials to the Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison or to the Sioux County Rescue Unit will be appreciated by the family.
