Kenneth L. Mashek Dies at 28

Kenneth Lyle Mashek, 28, a carpenter who resided at 516 1/2 Woodford St., died at a local hospital Friday morning following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 pm at the Squire-Simmons-Carr Rose Chapel with the Rev. Gordon V. Tellefson officiating. Burial will be in Missoula Cemetery.

Mr. Mashek was born July 21, 1924 at Lusk, Wyo., and came to Missoula in May, 1936. He was a member of Aerie 32, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Survivors are the widow, Bessie H. (nee Bessie Householder), whom he married at Baker July 2, 1950; his mother, Mrs. Ivy Mashek, also of Missoula; four brothers, Dale and Robert, Missoula; Ernest, Seattle, and Carl, Bremerton, Wash; six sisters, Mrs. Otis Treet and Mrs. Francis Harmon, Missoula; Mrs. Jean Thomas, Salem, Ore; Mrs. Melvin Weigan, Bremerton; Mrs. Leo Treet, Seattle, and Mrs. Jack Jones, Hiawatha, Kan., and several nieces and nephews.

He attended carpentry school and was graduated to journeyman status. He attended Missoula County High School and served in the military forces during World War II. He was stationed with a unit at Ogden, Utah.

Kenneth Mashek Dies in Montana

Word of the death of Kenneth Lyle Mashek, 28, at a hospital in Missoula, Mont. Jan 30 following an extended illness, has been received here.

He is the son of Mrs. Ivy Mashek, formerly of Lusk, and was born here July 21,1924 and moved with the family to Missoula in May of 1936. He attended the Missoula High School and served in the armed services during World War II.

He was married three years ago to Miss Bessie Householder. He was a member of Aerie 32, Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and followed the trade of a carpenter.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the Squire-Simmons-Carr Chapel with the Rev. Gordon V. Tollefson officiating. Burial was in the Missoula Cemetery.

Survivors are his widow, Bessie, his mother, Mrs. Ivy Mashek, both of Missoula, and four brothers, Dale and Robert of Missoula, Ernest of Seattle and Carl of Bremerton, Wash., six sisters, Mrs. Otis Treat and Mrs. Frances Harmon of Missoula, Mrs. Gene Thoms of Salem, Ore., Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wiegand, Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. Leon Treat, Seattle, and Mrs. Jack Jones, Hiawatha, Kans.

Mr. Mashek is a nephew of Mrs. Edna Stallman and Mrs. Henry Moore of Lusk and Mr. and Mrs. Moore drove to Missoula to attend the funeral services.
