Services for Leonard Ong Held Friday

Funeral services for Leonard F. Ong were held at the Peet Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Friday, with the Rev. Theodore Foster in charge. A quartet composed of Mrs. Bob Bramlet, Miss Neoma Taylor, Harry Lyon and Dr. R. W. Collins sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. J. P. Watson provided the music. Pallbearers were George Lee, Vernon Lee, Vernon Lamb, Tom Rasmussen, Jack Carder and Mike Miller.

Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 24 and Wieten-Dupes Post of the American Legion participated in the graveside services. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Leonard Fayette Ong, son of A. A. and Lily Ong, was born July 24, 1898, at Shenandoah, Iowa. He received his education in Burlington, Iowa, coming to Wyoming with his parents in 1916 to homestead on Little Lightening Creek, near Lance Creek. He married Valucia Lee in 1924 while employed by the Ohio Oil Company as an operator in the old gas plant in East Lance Creek. His wife died in 1939. Mr. Ong served in the U.S. Army in 1944. He married Mrs. Myrtle Colvin on March 5, 1956, and they continued to make their home in Lance Creek, operating a cattle ranch. He was stricken by a heart attack on May 16 while he and his wife were spending a few days at their cabin at Esterbrook.

Mr. Ong was a member of the Christian Church of Burlington, Iowa, Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 24 of Lusk, Wyoming Consistory No. 1 of Cheyenne, the Shrine at Rawlins, and Mariposa Chapter No. 35 of the Order of Eastern Star at Manville.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mr. Ong is survived by his wife, Myrtle; two step-daughters, Mrs. Mike Miller of Lusk and Mrs. Dick Quisenberry of Laramie; a brother, Jesse DeRousse, Davenport, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

Out of town relatives attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. J. G. DeRousse, Mrs. Louis DeRousse and Mrs. Cecil Rossman and family of Davenport, Iowa; I. W. Lamb, Huntington Beach, Calif.; B. H. Lamb, Fontana, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Bryant, Fort Collins, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lamb, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carder and Douglas of Linch; Mr. and Mrs. George Lee, Roundup, Mont.; Mrs. Dick Quisenberry of Laramie; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hendricks and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Hendricks, Glenrock; Vernon Hendricks, Upton, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rasmussen, Douglas.
