Willard Frye

Services for Willard Frye, age 71, were held Friday, December 21, 1990 at 10:00 A.M. in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Mark Lohr officiating. Burial was at 2:00 P.M. in the Douglas Park Cemetery with Rev. Frank Wiederrecht officiating.

Mr. Frye died Tuesday, December 18, 1990, at the Hot Springs VA Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D. He was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Meadow Grove, Neb., the son of Lyle and Mae Frye. He grew up in several towns in Nebraska. The family moved to Lost Springs in the spring of 1940, where Willard worked on a ranch and married Ileen Wright on May 15, 1940.

Mr. Frye moved to Idaho and lived until 1943 when he joined the Army. He was stationed in Kansas, Texas, Florida and Maryland. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to the Douglas area where he made a living as a government trapper and later entered into Law Enforcement working for the Douglas Police Department and the Converse County Sheriff's Department. In 1967 he moved to Lusk where he was employed on the Lusk Police Department until he retired in 1976 as Chief of Police.

Willard was an avid horseman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Aaron and Myran, a son Jim, and two grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Ileen of Lusk; two sons, Darrel of Evanston, and Earl of Casper; one brother, Rueben of Chadron, Neb.; one sister, Marion Jenkins of Lusk; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 23 nieces and nephews.
