Adron W. "Bill" Brown

Adron W. "Bill" Brown, 84, of Iliff, Colo., passed away March 8 in Sterling, Colo., and was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military rites by American Legion Post No. 20, on Tuesday, March 12, with Rev. Khris Kennedy officiating.

Mr. Brown was born May 25, 1917, the son of Carl Brown, Sr. and Rose Brown, in Lusk. On Oct. 17, 1941, he married Mary Carpenter in Torrington, moving from Bridgeport, Neb., to Iliff, Colo., in 1955. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was a Master Sergeant in the 43rd Engineering Corp., serving in Austraila and New Guinea. Mr. Brown also worked for Standard Oil as a heavy equipment operator and a welder, and was a member of the VFW.

He is survived by two sons, Sam W. Brown of Springfield, Colo., and Frank C. Brown of Sterling, Colo.; a daughter, Peggy L. Sommerfield of Iliff, Colo.; and a sister, Yvonne Hurst of Yoder. He is survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in November 1977; sisters Hazel Eggers, Annabele Hoy and Bernice Carmichael Hoy; and brothers Kermit Brown and Carl Brown Jr.

Memorials may be made to the Adron W. Bill" Brown memorial. Funeral arrangements were made by Chaney-Reager Funeral Home of Sterling, Colo.
