Gladys Hagerman

Gladys Hagerman was born July 12, 1909 at Kirtley, Wyoming, the first child of Leonard and Flora Christian. She died Dec. 19, 1984 at Houston, Texas.

Her early years were spent on the family ranch where she attended area schools. She graduated from Lusk High School in 1927 and began attending the University of Wyoming. In 1929 she began teaching in the Parker-DeGering Rural High School in northern Niobrara County. Her 35 years of teaching also included service in Lusk, Laramie and Greybull schools.

On March 21, 1944 she married Earl Hagerman at Carpenter, Wyoming. Mr. Hagerman was serving in the Marine Corps at the time and at the conclusion of World War II, the couple moved to Upton, where they were involved in the bentonite business.

In 1956 they moved to Greybull where Earl became involved in construction, and where Gladys returned to teaching. She retired in 1974 and the couple has maintained their residence in Greybull.

Her early contact with Wyoming ranch life played a role in many of Gladys' interests. She enjoyed riding in her early years. She loved the many wild plants and flowers and often had arrangements of them in her home. She had a great interest in birds, and learned the proper foods to have them in her feeders. She was very artistic and loved to draw and paint.

Gladys was a member of Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma. Her home church was First Presbyterian in Greybull.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Earl and one daughter, Vicki Lockhart of Houston, Texas, two sisters, Garnet Lohr of Lusk and Catherine Shelton of Laramie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Gladys Hagerman were at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk on December 22 at 2 p.m.

Officiating was Rev. Mark Lohr. Music was by Rose Kremers, organist. Mark Lohr sang "Peace in the Valley" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee."

Active bearers were Roger Jones, Paul Percival, Russ Thompson, Gene Lenz, Cody Thompson and Lee Johnsonbaugh.

Interment was a Lusk Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the Peet Mortuary.
