Mrs. Hazel Buck Hartwell, Widow of Late Senator J. G. Hartwell, Dies in Nebraska

Lusk friends were greatly shocked on Tuesday of this week when word of the death of Mrs. Hazel Hartwell, widow of the late J.G. (Happy) Hartwell, was telephoned to her brother-in-law, N. E. Hartwell of Lusk.

She passed away at Crete, Neb., on Monday morning at 6:00 o'clock, from an attack of influenza. It is understood that she had been ill only a few days and her death was totally unexpected.

Mrs. Hartwell came to Lusk as the bride of Attorney J. G. Hartwell in 1917, and they made their home here until Mr. Hartwell's death in June of 1934, when she returned to her old home at Crete, Neb., to live.

She was a member of the P.E.0. Sisterhood of Lusk and of the Eastern Star chapter of Crete.

Hazel Buck was born at Crete, Nebraska, in November of 1887, and except for the years of her married life which were spent in Lusk, the remainder of the time has been spent at her old home. She was a graduate of Doene College.

She leaves her 7-year-old son, Jack, to mourn her loss; also her mother, Mrs Della Buck, and one brother, Julian Buck, all of Crete.

Funeral services were to be held on Thursday, but it is understood that neither her mother nor son would be able to attend, as they are both ill with the flu.
