Leslie Nicole Jergensen
A Celebration of Life for Leslie Nicole Jergensen, age 17, will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the NCHS Auditorium in Lusk with Rev. Phil Stombaugh and Rev. Patrick Shea officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.
Leslie died Sunday, Sept. 27 in an automobile accident north of Lusk.
She was born September 27, 1981, in Torrington to Judith Lynn Himes and Douglas K. Jergensen.
Leslie attended Niobrara County High School and was a member of the junior class.
She was involved in athletics as well as many other school related activities and president of FBLA and the Spanish Club.
Leslie was survived by her mother, Judy; stepfather, Bruce Himes; her father, Doug Jergensen; seven sisters, Brittani, Ashley, Kristen, Brooke, Jennifer Altman, Amanda Leonard and Samantha Himes; four brothers, Shawn Cochran, Jeff Jergensen, Danny and Troy Himes; maternal grandparents, Phil and Barb Joss; paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Jergensen; and maternal great-grandfather, Arthur Joss; plus several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and many friends.
For those who wish, a memorial has been established in Leslie's name in care of Community First Bank in Lusk.
Bader Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Two local teens fatally injured in one-car rollover accident
Tara Wasson, 16, and Leslie Jergenson, 17, were killed in a one-car rollover Sunday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m.
According to Niobrara County Sheriff's office spokesperson, Wasson was driving westbound on County Road 14-69 when she lost control of the vehicle on a hill. The car skidded off the south side of the road and went through a right-of-way fence.
The car rolled three times, coming to rest on its wheels.
Although both girls were wearing seatbelts, Wasson was ejected from the vehicle.
Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene. The Niobrara County Sheriff's office is in charge of the investigation with assistance from the Wyoming Highway Petrol. The Lusk Police Department, Niobrara County Ambulance Service and Lusk Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
