Jeraldine Barrett

Jeraldine Frye Barrett, 84, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on March 25, 2026, at Banner Wyoming Medical Center, just hours before her 85th birthday.

Jerri was born in Weiser, Idaho, to Cathryn Clair Canaday and Aaron Carlyle Frye on March 26, 1941. She went to high school at Niobrara County High School and graduated in 1959. She began college at the age of 51 as a single mother and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas, and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Wyoming. She worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addictions Therapist, owning Jerri Barrett Counseling and working as a therapist at Kaw Valley Behavioral.

She enjoyed reading, dancing, listening to music, feeding the birds, caring for children, napping, camping, going to movies, spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, canning, and baking homemade bread, cookies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls. She was a recipient of the Single Parent of the Year award, and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She raised 10 children and helped raise over 100 foster children. 

Jerri is survived by her children: LaRee Soffe, Danny Morgan, LeAnn Morgan, Darin Morgan, Lisa Morgan, Lisette Spencer, Todd Barrett, Lyndee Barrett, and Brent Barrett. She is preceded in death by her parents Cathryn Clair Canaday and Aaron Carlyle Frye, and her brother, Dennis Frye. 

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1922 S. Poplar St., Casper, WY 82601, on March 28, 2026.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nursing and hospice staff at Wyoming Medical Center, the friends and family who offered prayers and support, and Sammy, her loyal dog. 

Jerri filled life with warmth, laughter, and care for others. She was a rare and precious treasure.

Her children and grandchildren will carry forward her kindness, strength, and compassion, honoring her by how they live.
