Harlan P. Fancher Dies in Lusk Sun

Harlan Page Fancher, 81, well known resident of Kirtley, died early Sunday morning at the Spencer Hospital after a recent operation and extended illness.

Mr. Fancher was born in Wyoming, New York in 1872, the son of Charles and Frances Fancher. He spent his boyhood days there and then came to Lander, Wyo., in 1888. Here he met and married Josephine Tatman in 1896. They came to the Kirtley community in that same year and have lived there since. To this union 10 children were born, five of whom still living and five who died in infancy.

He was a charter member of the Woodman of the World Lodge of Kirtley and was a member of the Lusk Odd Fellows Lodge. From 1933 to 1941 he was foreman of the C.C.C. camps in various parts of the state.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Josephine; five children: Mrs. Earl Sides of Lusk, Mrs. James W. Paulson of Laramie, Harry C. Fancher of Scappoose, Ore., Frank E. Fancher of Lusk, and Floyd E. Fancher of Seattle, Wash.; 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred, Herbert, and George, all of Warson, N.Y. and many friends.

Final rites weree conducted at the Peet Chapel Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 30, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith Bruning of Harrison, Nebr. officiating. Dave Wood, Lafe Culver Jr., Mrs. Ruth Thomas and Miss Justine Watson sang "Beautiful Isle" and "No Night There," accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson at the organ.

Burial was made in the Kirtley cemetery with Harlan Lohr, John Hammond, Harry Sides, Jim Peterson, Walter Zerbst and Chris Jassman acting as casket bearers. Honorary bearers were John Lohr, Jim Christian, Art Thompson and John Siemsen.
