Inga Thompson

Inga Thompson of Lusk died Monday, Oct. 28, of pulmonary congestion at Niobrara Memorial Nursing Home. She was 90.

Inga Paulsen was born March 15, 1895, in Albert Lea, Minn., the daughter of Jens and Maren Paulsen. She grew up in Denver, Colo. She was graduated from East Denver High School and received her teaching certificate from the University of Colorado. Her first school was a sod hut in Flagler, Colo.

Later she came to Wyoming to teach in a rural school at Kirtley. She met her future husband, Arthur Thompson, and they were married Feb.5, 1917, in Boulder, Colo.

They lived on ranch at Kirtley until moving to Lusk in 1938. They continued ranching until 1949, when they began leasing the ranch out. Their daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Verne Browder, have operated the ranch for the past 20 years.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 12, the Tumbleweed Extension Club and the Congregation Circle for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Marian Browder of Kirtley and Eleanor Witzenburger of Cheyenne; a brother, Arthur Lee Paulsen of Denver; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; two children, Camilla and Arthur James; sister, Caroline Perrin; brothers, James and Pete Paulsen and a half-brother, George Madsen.

Memorial services were held Oct. 30 at Peet Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Mark Lohr officiated. Burial was in Kirtley Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Niobrara Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home.

Peet Mortuary handled arrangements.

Note:   Some family members in the data base use the spelling Paulson rather than Paulsen.
