Gary Bartos Is Killed in Cheyenne Crash

Gary Bartos, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bartos of Keeline, died in a Cheyenne hospital early Thanksgiving morning after the car he was driving crashed at the interchange of Interstate Highways 80 and 25 at Cheyenne.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol said the east was eastbound on Interstate 80 ramp and was turning onto Interstate 25 when he lost control. The car slid across I-25 and struck a sign pole.

A passenger, Carla Bussart of Green River, was also injured, but was released from the Cheyenne hospital Tuesday.

Mr. Bartos and Miss Bussart had traveled from Green River and were going to Aurora, Colo., to visit Mr. Bartos's sister, Mrs. Gwendola Longbone, for Thanksgiving. The accident happened shortly after midnight Thanksgiving morning.

Funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel at 2:00 Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Richard Korns of the Manville and Lance Creek churches officiated.

Mrs. A. F. DeCastro was organist. Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Mrs. Donald Johnson, Dr. Richard Collins and Harry Lyon sang "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again.

Casket Bearers were Jim Norris, Jim Jugler, George Jugler, Gene Lohr, Vern Modine and Nels Engebretsen. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Gary Lloyd Bartos was born August 31, 1941, to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bartos of Keeline. He received his elementary education at the Keeline school and was graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1959. He was also a graduate of the IBM College in Kansas City, Kan. During his school years he was an adept athlete and enjoyed all sports and music.

Mr. Bartos was employed by the Big Horn Construction Company of Green River.

Survivors are his parents; grandfather, Joseph Bartos of Lusk; grandmother, Mrs. Rena Alexander of Manville; three sisters, Mrs. Gwendola Longbone of Aurora, Colo., Mrs. Verla Etchemendy of Manville, and Mrs. Sheryl Jugler of Shawnee.
