Elizabeth Miller, Pioneer Resident Here, Dies Tuesday

Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, 82, a pioneer resident of Lusk and mother of Thomas O. Miller and William D. Miller and Mrs. Jess Thompson of Lance Creek, died at the Manring Convalescent home shortly after noon Tuesday.

Mrs. Miller had been making her home in Casper for a number of years, where her daughter, Mrs. Adolph Winter, Jr. resides, but due to her failing health was brought to Lusk, the fore part of September after being a patient in a Casper hospital for some time.

Mrs. Miller and her late husband, A. L. Miller came to Lusk in the early days and were closely associated with the growth and development of the town.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Raymond Hoffman, pastor of St. George's Episcopal Church from the Peet Chapel Friday mroning at 10:00 o'clock with interment in the Lusk Cemetery.

Lee Miller, a son, arrived here from his home at Colorado Springs shortly before his mother's death.

Last Rites for Elizabeth Miller Held Here Friday

Last rites for Mrs. Elizabeth C. Miller, who died October 13, were conducted from the Peet Chapel Friday morning, Oct. 16, at 10:00 o'clock with the Rev. Raymond Hoffman, pastor of St. George's Episocpal Church, officiating. The songs "Lead On Oh King Elernal" and "The Strife Is O'er, The Battle Done" were sung as solos by Mrs. Robert Bramlet accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery beside her husband, with her seven sons and one son-in-law carrying her remains to its last resting place; they were William D., Thomas O., Kenneth G., Lee G., Donald C., Joyce C., Maxwell J., and Jess Thompson.

Elizabeth Catherine was born Apr. 13, 1871 at Cedar Rapids, Ia., the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Wear) Daley. She came to Wyoming as a young girl and lived for a time on the family homestead 10 miles north of Lusk.

On Sept. 28, 1890 she was married to Addison Lee Milller at the Daley ranch, now the Henry Petz ranch. They are the parents of 12 children, all of whom are living with the exception of a son, Edward Nathaniel, who died at Amarillo, Tex. in 1928.

Mrs. Miller was a member of Niobrara Chapter No. 26, Order of the Eastern Star and had also been a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 12 at Lusk. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, of Wieten-Dupes Post No. 4 of Lusk.

All of the children were in Lusk for the funeral except Mrs. Florence Winter who had just gone to the west coast and Mrs. Helen Lieurance who recently underwent major surgery. Mrs. Mary Schmidt Stark of Casper, a niece of Mrs. Miller together with the wives of William D., Lee G., and Thomas O., attended the last rites.

Her husband, A. L. Miller, died at Lusk in 1938.

Survivors are: seven sons, William D., and Thomas O., of Lusk; Kenneth G., Joyce D., and Maxwell J. of Olympia, Wash., Lee G. of Colorado Springs, Donald C., Long Beach, Calif., and four daughters, Mrs. Florence Winter, Casper; Mrs. Genevieve Lieurance, Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Virginia Thompson, Lance Creek.

Besides her 11 children, she is survived by 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildre; also one brother, Tom Daley of Shelby, Mont.
