Robert Lynn Scott, 68, of Lusk, died Thursday., Feb. 2 at the Niobrara Health and Life Center after a long struggle with heart failure.

Bob was born Jan. 31, 1938, to Robert and Thelma Scott. Bob grew up on the family ranch North of Lusk and was educated in Lusk public schools, graduating with the class of 1957. He served with the Army National Guard for eight years.

On May 18, 1959, he married Sammie Lee Bayne. The family lived in Lusk where Bob worked at Crazy Charlie's. In 1963, the family moved to Scottsbluff, where he was employed as a parts manager at S&T Motors. He than worked at Blaha GMC as their parts and service manager for 18 years.

In 1987, the GMC dealership was sold and the family moved to Phoenix, Ariz. to be near their oldest son, Kevin. In 1992, Bob and Sammie returned to the Scott ranch North of Lusk where Bob was employed as a detention officer with the Niobrara County Sheriff's Office until ill health forced his retirement.

Bob enjoyed hunting with his sons and family camping and fishing rips. He also loved to ride motorcycles.

He was a member of Jaycee's in Scottsbluff County for several years and was elected Jaycee of the year in 1970. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lusk where he also served a term on the board. He loved his church family and enjoyed his duties there immensely.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sammie; daughters, Kelley and her husband Sam Rose of Scottsbluff, Neb.; Arlene Palmer of Wellsville, N.Y.; sons Shane of Lusk and Robert L. Jr. and his wife, Linda of Windsor, Colo.; brothers, Richard and his wife, Ellie of Tucson, Ariz. and Roger and his wife, Aleta of Rapid City, S.D.; grandchildren Ashley (Joe) Margheim of Bellevue, Neb; Scotty Brunner of Scottsbluff; Davin (Erin) Rose of Durham, N.C.; Danielle (Cory) Hrasky of Fort Collins, Colo.; Areanna Palmer of Belmont, N.Y., Hannah and Hayden Scott of Windsor, Colo; great-grandchildren, Brooke Margheim of Bellevue, Neb. and Nevaeh Hrasky of Fort Collins, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His son, Kevin, his sister, Arlene and his parents, preceded him in death.

Services will be held Thursday., Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lusk with Pastors Tom Strock and Chan Bayne officiating. At Bob's request, his remains were cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church. Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
