Herman Leeling Jr.

Herman Leeling Jr. died at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, SD, March 10, 1996 at age 65.

He was born Aug. 23, 1930 in Kirtley, Wyo. He was the son of Herman and Cora Leeling. He attended school in Kirtley and Flattop, Wyo. He was inducted into the army June 21, 1951, and was stationed in Korea and served eight years as light vehicle driver. He received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, the United Nations Service Medal and Merit Unit Citation.

He married Mary Ann France of Douglas. To this union was born two sons, David and Michael Leeling of Osborne, Idaho. They were divorced but Herman lived and worked in Douglas for several years.

He lived in Manville with his mother for a number of years. Later, because of ill health, he was a resident in the home for the elderly in Custer, S.D. and Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his father Herman Leeling, Sr.; one sister, two brothers, Leonard and Allen Leeling.

He is survived by his mother, Cora Leeling of Lusk; Cleo Peterson of Harrison; Edna Outhouse of Lusk; Margaret Heine of Manville; three grandsons in Osborne, Idaho and several nieces and nephews.

Military services and honors were held March 12, 1996 in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D.
