Inice B. Mill

Memorial service for Inice B. Mill, 73, of Lusk was held on Friday, April 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the Congregational Church with the Rev. Frank Blish officiating.

Local artist, Inice Mill, died Tuesday evening, April 14, at the home of her daughter, Wanda Hansen, following a week of hospitalization in the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital.

Inice Boon Mill was born March 9, 1908 at Alliance, Neb., where she spent her early life and was educated. She received a beautician's degree in Kansas City, Mo. In her early twenties she came to Wyoming where she met George Mill, son of Jacob Mill, an early pioneer of this part of Wyoming. They were married Dec. 10, 1929. They made their home on the Mill ranch at Hat Creek. At this old pioneer ranch they reared their family of two daughters. They continued to live on the family ranch until the death of her husband in 1975 when Inice moved to Lusk.

Mrs. Mill was active in the State Cow Belles and in the early 50's she organized the Niobrara County Cow Belles. When organizing the first group she saw that the aims were set, first - to promote the beef industry and second -a day on which ranch women could get together and enjoy themselves socially. She was a past state president of the Wyoming Cow Belles.

Mrs. Mill was a past president of P. E. O. Chapter 1 of Lusk, as well as a member of the Lusk Congregational Church. She served on the Niobrara County Hospital Board during construction of the new hospital.

She was an accomplished artist, and was originally responsible for bringing several painting courses to Lusk. Several of her paintings were chosen by the Wyoming Travel Artists Association to be exhibited in Washington, D.C., in the Wyoming State Congressional Offices. Children's portraits were her favorite subjects.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one grandchild. Survivors include two daughters, Carla Reed of Newcastle and Wanda Hansen of Hat Creek; two sisters, Eyolyn Yardley of Douglas and Twila Hashman of Hemingford, Nebr.; five grandchildren, Jake Reed of Laramie, Lori Reed Murphy of Casper, Jeff Reed of Newcastle, Cheryl Hansen Lund and Susan Hansen of Hat Creek.

Jane Bardo was organist and Joy Kaltenheuser sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "He Touched Me." The congregation joined in singing "Amazing Grace."

Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jake Reed, Jeff Reed, Ron Lund, Pat Murphy, Arnie Jensen and Bob Coupens. The P.E.O. conducted a graveside service.

Memorials may be given to the Congregational Church Building Fund.
