Funeral Services Held for Beecher Strube Saturday

Final rites were held Saturday for Beecher Jay Strube, long time resident of Niobrara County. Services were conducted at the Peet Chapel by Rev. Clyde Hampton. The large crowd in attendance evidenced the respect and esteem held for Mr. Strube by his many acquaintances.

Active casket-bearers were: William Hodgson, Hugh McLean, Joe Divver, Wayne Chambers, Stewart Sides, Fred Sheaman, A. Hennebeck and Ernest Jugler. Honorary bearers were, William Welsh, Rudy Christensen, Clarence Boston, and Chas. V. Lee.

Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Snyder, Mrs. Doris Coon and Rex Yocum sang "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." They were accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson at the organ.

I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 13 of Lance Creek gave a special service, conducted by David Ray Boston, Noble Grand and Stanley Gillespie as Chaplain.

Beecher Jay Strube, the son of Martin and Sophie Strube, was born at Netawaka, Kans. Mar. 31, 1908 and died at his home in Lance Creek about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the age of 45 years. His boyhood was spent in the community of Horton, Kans. In 1926 he came to Niobrara County where he worked for several years and Apr. 26, 1931 he was united in marriage to Miss Helen Cook of Hat Creek. To this union were born four children, Mary Lou who died in infancy, Eddie who is with the Military forces in Camp Chaffee, Ark., Martin of the family home and daughter Barbara, a junior in Lusk High School.

The family lived at Hat Creek until 1936 when they moved to Lance Creek where they have since resided. And where Beecher has been employed as field gauger for the Continental Pipeline Co.

Beecher was deeply interested in athletics and devoted much of his time and effort to promoting athletics among his young friends both at Lance Creek and Lusk. He was a past noble grand of I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 13 of Lance Creek, having been a charter member of that organization and was also a member of Black Gold Rebekah Lodge No. 22 of Lance Creek.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter in 1932 and by his father in 1937. Survivors are his wife, his two sons and one daughter, his stepmother, Mrs. Christina Strube, and one stepbrother, Edmond Cook of Hat Creek community; also other relatives in Kansas and Colorado and many friends throughout this part of Wyoming.

Beecher Strube Dies of Heart Attack Wednesday

Beecher J. Strube, 45, well-known resident of Lance Creek, died suddenly at his home there of a heart attack Wednesday morning.

Mr. Strube, who had been employed in the Glenrock oil fields, had not felt well and recently returned to his home in Lance Creek. It is understood that he had gotten up and dressed when the attack seized him and he died before help could arrive.

Mr. Strube was born in Kansas in March of 1908 and came to Wyoming as a young man. In 1930 he was married to Miss Helen Cook and they are the parents of two sons, Eddie in the service, and Martin who has been a student at the Chadron State Teachers College, and a daughter, Barbara, who is a junior in Lusk High School.

Funeral arrangements are indefinite awaiting word from Eddie, who is stationed at Camp Chaffee, Ark., and relatives are trying to contact him through the Red Cross.

Beecher J. Strube Succumbs to Heart Attack Wednesday

The untimely death of Beecher J. Strube of Lance Creek, came as a distinct chock to his many friends in that community and Lusk. The deceased succumbed to a heart attack at 6:30 o'clock, Wednesday morning, December 9th, at the family home in Lance Creek.

Employed by the Rocky Mountain Pipe Line company for the past 17 years as a gauger, at Lance Creek. He has been working the past several weeks for this concern, at Glenrock, and had driven home Tuesday evening to spend some time with his family. He had gotten up and was dressing for the day when stricken.

Last rites will be held at 2;00 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the chapel of the Peet Funeral home with the Odd Fellow lodge at Lance Creek in charge of services at the chapel and graveside. Interment will be made in the Lusk cemetery.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Helen, two sons, Eddie and Martin Strube, and one daughter, Barbara, all of Lance Creek, two sisters and numerous other relatives, some of whom are coming from distant points to be present for last rites.
