Mary A. Barnes

Mary A. Barnes, a Lusk resident since 1942, died last Friday at the Niobrara County Nursing Home. She was 69.

A native of Hubbard, Neb., she was the daughter of Victor and Isabella Buck.

Family and friends say Mrs. Barnes accepted life's challenges with courage and determination.

She is survived by three children, Naomi Coen of Prineville, Ore., Nellie Jean Pfister of Lusk and Billie R.J. Barnes of Rogen, Colo.; a sister, Alva Brady of Chamlier, Ariz.; two brothers, Charles and Philip Buck of Riverton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, Wayne Shanen, Ralph Olafson and Bill Barnes, and a sister.

Mark Lohr officiated at a Tuesday service at Peet Mortuary. Music included "Rock of Ages" and "Beautiful Isle."

Burial was at Lusk Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bud Allen, Dale Terrel, Ronnie Nier, Tony Hytrek, Jim Santistevan and Paul Christensen.
