Young Widow Dies at Local Hospital; Services of Sunday

Eight days following an operation for relief from appendicitis, during which time her recuperation was progressing in most satisfactory manner, brought a sudden change for the worse in the condition of Mrs. Nellie Buck - Coen, and within a few hours she was claimed by death. Mrs. Coen passed away at the Lusk hospital last Thursday evening, September 2nd, at the age of 18 years, 7 months and 19 days.

Mrs. Coen was stricken ill some weeks ago and underwent the surgical treatment on August 25th. Complications developed last Thursday afternoon, which brought on her death within a few hours.

Funeral services were conducted from the Church of God at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, September 5th, Rev. Tracey Decker, of Thermopolis, officiating. The mixed quartet composed of Ford B. Kuns, Wm. Sherck, Mrs. C. E. Marvin and Mrs. Keister, sang "Rock of Ages," "The Old Rugged Cross" and " Nearer, My God to Thee."

Morris Grant, Neal Grant, Robert Bump, Clark Kuhn, Francis Young and Gaylord Anderson, as pallbearers, carried the remains of the deceased to their final resting place in the Lusk cemetery.

OBITUARY - Nellie Charlotte Buck

Nellie Charlotte Buck was born at Winnebago, Nebr., January 13th, 1919, the daughter of V. H. and Augusta Buck.

She lived through her younger girlhood in Nebraska and came with her parents to Niobrara County in 1930 after a year spent in Missouri.

She attended Lusk high school for two years where she acquired many friends.

On May 2nd, 1936 she was married to Glen Coen of Lusk. Her husband's tragic death in November, six months after their marriage, destroyed the beauty of a happy married life and placed a heavy burden of deep sorrow upon the mind of this young wife.

Two weeks ago Nellie was stricken with ill health and underwent surgical treatment. Her condition progressed satisfactorily and her full recovery was expected when last Thursday evening she was suddenly overcome with complications and her death came within a short time.

She passed from this life on September 2nd, at the age of 18 years 7 months and 19 days.

She is survived by her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Oleson (Olafson) of Meckling, S. D., Alva of the family home in Lusk and by two brothers, Phillip and Charles both also of the family home.
