Kathleen McFarlane Anthony Hunter

Memorial services for Kathleen (McFarlane) Anthony Hunter, 92, were conducted July 23, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Torrington by the Rev. Deb Olenyik. Private family burial has taken place.

She died July 18, 2003, at her son's home in Torrington.

Born Feb. 25, 1911, in Lusk, she was the daughter of Albert E. and Zony (Bradley) McFarlane; was raised and educated there and graduated from Lusk High School and the University of Wyoming.

She loved teaching grade school and taught in eight Wyoming towns for a total of 34 years. Her first year was spent in LaGrange in 1931; followed by Green River, Lusk, Douglas, Glendo, Torrington, Huntley, and Lingle.

In 1939, she married John Anthony. They were the parents of a son, Robert, who died at birth in 1942. The couple divorced in 1944.

She married Lloyd Hunter in 1948. They had three sons, Arthur Charles and Lloyd Albert, and Dr. Elvis Hunter, her husband's son from a previous marriage.

She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, National Retired Teachers Association and Wyoming Historical Society.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Albert of Denver, and Arthur C. of Torrington; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and hundreds of dear students.

In addition to her son, she was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepson; a sister, Helen; and five brothers, Archie, Albert "Jack", George, Ralph and Claude.

Memorials may be made to United Medical Church (correction: United Methodist Church) or Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington was in charge of arrangements.
