Pat Marchant Dies Sunday; Funeral Wed.

Patrick Henry Marchant, 59, rancher north of Lusk, died early Sunday evening of a heart attack.

The family had been to Lusk earlier in the day to attend a brunch at the Fireside Inn for the class reunion of 1930, which Mrs. Marchant was a class member. After returning home from Lusk, Mr. Marchant went out to see about the cows. The pickup he was driving apparently vapor locked, and he walked home which was approximately a mile. He rested for awhile, and then a neighbor Gene Francis, went with him to help start the pickup. En route to the pickup he suffered the fatal attack.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Mortuary in Lusk. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

He was born at Warren, Wyo., to Clarence and Sylvia Hogg Marchant, January 28, 1911.

Survivors include his widow Marjorie of the family home and a son Jack of Newcastle.

Funeral Services For Pat Marchant Last Wednesday

Patrick H. Marchant, 59, died August 16 at his ranch home north of Lusk. Funeral services were conducted at the Peet Mortuary in Lusk last Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 2:00 p.m. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

The Rev. Delbert Dick of Wheatland officiated. Lou Ann Marchant, granddaughter of the deceased, was organist, and accompanied Mrs. Bari Lee Rumney as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross' and "Rock of Ages."

Casket bearers were Jim Reed, Reuben Boatright, Harry Brown, Everett Thomas, Ted Jones and Gene Francis.

Honorary bearers were Joe Gibbs, Ed Jones, Joe Keepes, Russ Christianson, Glen Hanson, Dick Brashear, Bill Smyth, Albert Glasby, and Oscar Middleton.

He was born January 28, 1911, at Warren, Wyo., to James Madison and Sylvia Hogg Marchant. He received his schooling in Lance Creek and Cheyenne River area, riding a spotted pony to school.

After his marriage to Marjorie Maybelle Zerbst, they started ranching by filing on a homestead in northern Niobrara County. By adding to his homestead through the years he built a comfortable and beautiful home.

His parents died previously.

Survivors include his widow Marjorie; a son Jack; two grandchildren, Jay Dee and Lou Anne Marchant; and a brother James A., all of Newcastle.
