Final Services for Erwin D. Vargason Held From Peet Chapel Friday Morning; Interment Is Made In Lusk Cemetery

Final services for Erwin Duggar Vargason who passed away at his home December 22nd, were conducted from the chapel of the Peet mortuary at ten o'clock Friday morning, December 24th, with Rev. Harry F. Carter, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Mr.. Vargason had passed away following a long illness contributed to carcinoma of the pancreas.

Adding much to the service was the singing of "God Will Take Care You," "No Night There," and "Beyond" by a mixed quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Wood, Mrs Lois Watt and Bob Wilson. They were accompanied by Mrs. Gerald Bardo.

Bearing the remains to their final resting place in the Lusk cemetery were A. B. DeCastro, Richard Schnorenberg, Athel Pierce, Harry Fernau, Sr., Raliegh Reed and E. L. McKnight.

Erwin Duggar Vargason was born November 10, 1901 at Marisville, Nebr., the youngest son of James and Lydia Vargason, the parents of eight children.

When seventeen years of age, he moved with his parents to Inman, Nebr. It was there he was united in marriage to Estelle Crosser in 1924. To this union were born three children, a son, Claire, and two daughters, Mrs. Anita Culver and Linda Carol.

In 1939 Mr. Vargason moved with his family to Lusk where he was employed by the Lusk Motor company until eight months ago when he was forced by illness to give up his work.

On October 10, 1948 he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and was a member of the local Church of Christ.

No efforts were spared in endeavoring to restore Mr. Vargason's health. After a lingering illness he passed away at his home in this city at 4:30 a.m. December 22nd, at the age of 47 years, 1 month and 12 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing a loving and devoted wife, three children, Claire, Mrs. Anita Culver and Linda Carol; three sisters, Mrs. E. D. Lamb of Grants Pass, Ore.; Mrs. Dudley Bates of Walla Walla, Wash; and Mrs. Thomas Peacock of Long Pine, Nebr.; one brother, Ira Vargason of Aberdeen, Ida;, a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three sisters.
