Last Services for the Late Walter L. Keister Held Sunday Afternoon from Peet Chapel; Burial in Lusk Cemetery

Last rites for the late Walter L. Keister, 67, who succumbed to a heart attack November 9th in Pittsburg, Kansas, were conducted by Clyde El Spaulding, pastor of the Church of Christ of Lusk, at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, November 13th, from the chapel of the Peet Funeral Home.

During the services, "Only a Shadow", and "All is Well" were sung by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Marian Fosher, Mr. and Mrs. Al Davenport and Rolla Reed, with Mrs. Clyde Spaulding presiding at the chapel organ.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery with the remains being borne to their last resting place by Darrell Allsup, Dick Heine, Dallas Swisher, nephews of the deceased and Emil Klemke, Bud Cantwell, and Del Shoopman.

Walter Lee Keister was born October 20, 1888 in Sedgwich County, Colorado, where he grew to manhood. He was one of two children born to George and Anna Keister. His only sister passed away in infancy.

When he was five years old, his mother passed away, and he made his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Woodhams.

On March 3, 1910, he was united in marriage to Nina Rogers. To this union one daughter, Neva, was born. In 1917, they moved to Manville, Wyo., and while residing there, his wife, Nina, passed away on November 20, 1928. Since then, he has lived for some time in Wyoming, Washington, Colorado and Kansas, making friends wherever he went.

He was married to Millie Brown in 1953, of Pittsburg, Kansas, where they were residing at the time of his demise, on Wednesday of last week. His death was due to a heart attack. He had attained the age of 67 years and 18 days.

Mr. Keister was a member of the Royal Neighbor and Lusk Rebekah Lodge No. 12, of Lusk, and the Odd Fellow Lodge of Thermopolis, Wyo.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Millie, of Pittsburg, Kansas, one daughter, Mrs. Neva Lamb of Lusk, Wyo., two granddaughters, Mrs. Nina Denny of Newcastle, Wyo., and Miss Lana Lamb of Lusk, Wyo.; two uncles George and Fred Woodhams, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral services were Mrs. George Woodhams, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodhams, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dillehay, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woodhams, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jenkins, Mrs. Ray Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Olafson and daughter all of Ovid, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dekart of Haxtun, Colo.; Orval, Clifford and Vern Woodhams of Fort Collins, Colo.; Mrs. Irene Redfern, Pittsburgh, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Heine, Glenda and Freida, Keeline, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Swisher and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Allsup and Dixie of Manville, Wyo.

Mrs. Lamb's Father Dies in Kansas

Walter Lee Keister, a former Lusk resident and father of Mrs. Ira Lamb, died Tuesday in Pittsburg, Kan., where he has lived for the past two months.

Funeral arrangements are indefinite at this time. There will be a service in Pittsburg and services will be held at the Peet Chapel in Lusk with interment in the Lusk Cemetery.

At The Herald's press time Wednesday, Sunday afternoon has been set tentatively as the date.

Mr. Keister lived in Lusk from 1917 to 1953 when he moved to Morton, Wash. Approximately two months ago he and Mrs. Keister moved to Pittsburg. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nellie Keister; one daugther, Mrs. Lamb; two granddaughters, Mrs. Bill Denny of Newcastle, and Lana Lamb; and two great-grandsons, Lee Ray and Jay Denny.

Funeral Services for Walter Keister Held in Lusk Sun.

Funeral services for Walter Lee Keister, 67, who died of a heart attack in Pittsburg, Kans., Nov. 9, were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Peet Chapel with Clyde M. Spaulding, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating.

A mixxed quartette composed of Mr. and Mrs. Al Davenport, Rolla Reed and Mrs. Raime Fosher sang "Just a Shadow Between" and "It Is Well With My Soul" accompanied by Mrs. Clyde M. Spaulding, organist.

Casket-bearers were: Darrell Alsup, Dick Heine and Dallas Swisher, all nephews of Mr. Keister; Emil Klemke, T. L. Cantwell and Del Shoopman. Interment was in the Lusk cemetery with the Peet Mortuary in charge.

Walter Lee Keister was born Oct. 20, 1888 in Sedgwick County,Colo, the only son of George and Anna Keister. A sister, Lucy, died in infancy. When he was five years old his mother died and he made his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Woodhams, in the same vicinity.

He was married to Miss Nina Rogers March 3, 1910 and the couple had one daughter, Neva.

In 1917 the family moved to Douglas, where they lived for about three years. In 1920 they moved to the Manville community where Mrs. Keister died November 20, 1928. Since then he has lived in various places in Wyoming, Washington, Colorado and Kansas.

He was married to Millie Brown of Pittsburgh in 1953 and the couple were living there when he died.

He was a member of the Royal Neighbor and Rebekah Lodges of Lusk and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Thermopolis.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Millie Keister; his daughter, Mrs. Ira Denny of Newcastle and Lana Lamb; two great-grandsons, Lee Ray and Jay Denny; two uncles, George and Fred Woodhams; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
