Willis Rice Funeral Held in Chadron Thurs.

Funeral services for Willis (Willie) John Rice, 53, were held last Thursday from the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chadron with the Rev. Charles Bichel officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery with Elks graveside services.

He died at his home as a result of a heart attack, November 14.

Mr. Rice was born November 4, 1913, at Van Tassell, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Rice. He lived with his parents at Lusk for a number of years, graduating from high school here.

He was married October 3, 1938, to Mildred Daily of Scotia, Nebr., and were the parents of one daughter, Karan.

During the first years of their married life, he worked at Black Hills Ordinance Depot, Igloo, S.D. as a munitions inspector. They also lived at Harrison where both were employed by Viele Drug Store. The family moved to Chadron in 1949, where he entered into business as the operator of a Standard Oil Bulk Plant, which he operated until his death.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the B.P.O. Elks.

Survivors include his widow, Mildred of the home, his daughter Karan Conner and three grandchildren, Bradley, Kimberly, and Todd, all of Ogallala, Nebr. and a sister, Mrs. Clara Fullerton of Riverton, Wyo.
